About BrakeTech
Engineering Braking Performance
For decades, the BrakeTech name has been associated with high-performance motorcycle braking and innovative engineering for riders who demand more from their machines.
Since its founding by Jeff Ghers, BrakeTech has been built around a simple idea: braking performance is about more than simply making a motorcycle stop. It’s about delivering consistent, predictable control as demands increase, whether on the street or at the track.
That philosophy continues to define BrakeTech today.
Legacy of Innovation
BrakeTech has earned its reputation by developing braking components around the real demands of performance motorcycles. That means looking beyond individual components and understanding the relationship between the rotor, caliper, brake pads and the complete braking system.
BrakeTech’s patented AXIS™ floating rotor system and Cobra™ rotor designs helped establish the brand in the performance motorcycle market. From optimized petal-style rotors to race-oriented round designs, BrakeTech products are engineered to manage heat, reduce unnecessary weight and deliver consistent braking performance under demanding conditions.
That same approach led to the development of BrakeTech Caliper Racing Pistons in 2017. Our caliper pistons transform conventional OE calipers into race-spec by eliminating fluid boil, substantially improving overall brake performance and consistency.
The result is a range of products designed not simply as replacements for original components, but as meaningful performance upgrades.
The BrakeTech Standard
The real test of a brake component happens when the motorcycle is moving. Repeated hard braking, rising temperatures, high speeds and demanding track sessions require braking performance that remains precise and predictable.
At BrakeTech we believe the best braking systems are the result of thoughtful engineering, quality components, and a clear understanding of how motorcycles are actually ridden.
That means continuing to refine existing designs, developing new solutions when better answers are possible, and maintaining the level of performance that riders have come to expect from the BrakeTech name.
BrakeTech. The pursuit of better braking never stops.

BrakeTech Founder Jeff Gehrs Announces Retirement
After decades dedicated to BrakeTech and the motorcycle industry, BrakeTech founder Jeff Gehrs has officially retired, stepping away from the day-to-day operations of the company to enjoy the next chapter of his life with family.
Jeff founded BrakeTech with a passion for motorcycles and a commitment to improving braking performance through innovative engineering, quality components, and an uncompromising approach to performance. Over the years, that commitment helped establish BrakeTech as a respected name among street riders, racers, builders, and motorcycle enthusiasts around the world.
What began with Jeff’s vision grew into a brand recognized for its high-performance motorcycle brake rotors and braking solutions, including BrakeTech’s distinctive AXIS™ floating rotor system. His knowledge, dedication, and years of hands-on involvement played an important role in shaping the company and building the reputation BrakeTech enjoys today.
After many years of personally overseeing the business and working directly with customers and members of the motorcycle community, Jeff has decided the time is right to step away from active operations.
Retirement will give Jeff something that running a business rarely provides enough of: time. Time to slow down, spend more time with family, pursue personal interests, and enjoy life beyond the daily demands of operating BrakeTech.
A New Chapter for Jeff, and BrakeTech
While Jeff begins his well-earned retirement, BrakeTech is also beginning a new chapter under new ownership.
The company will continue serving the motorcycle community with the performance products and technical focus that have made BrakeTech a trusted name in motorcycle braking. As BrakeTech moves forward, the goal is to build upon the strong foundation established over the years while creating new opportunities for the brand, its products, dealers, and customers.
We are grateful for everything Jeff created and contributed during his years with BrakeTech and wish him and his family nothing but the best as he enjoys retirement.
