BrakeTech AXIS™ RR Stainless Steel Rotor

BrakeTech AXIS™ RR Rotors are purpose-built race rotors developed in a continuing effort to bring the very best to top-level world competitors. Utilizing the latest hi-tech stainless steel alloy, this proprietary metallurgy is formulated for the severe demands of top-level pro racing. The AXIS™ RR employs BrakeTech's floating architecture, optimized for the severe braking environment of pro-level racing.

The AXIS™ RR was developed as the replacement for BrakeTech's AXIS™ Iron rotor, driven by three key factors in the sport: round-race rotors have become dominant in FIM world-level racing and are now filtering down to many national series as well; many competitors who tried wave-style rotors and experienced problems have come full circle back to the elegant, highly effective simplicity of round rotors (BrakeTech's Cobra™ SS rotors, by comparison, use an optimized petal design, not a wave design); and iron is not legal in AMA or FIM pro-level competition.

The AXIS™ RR features a high-tech, multi-aspect lightening and vent hole pattern that adds just 25 grams over its Race-Spec Cobra™ SS counterpart. This configuration improves ventilation crossflow cooling, which, combined with the nominal increase in total mass, raises the rotor's thermal threshold to further resist heat-induced brake fade.

This rotor is built to Race-Spec, meaning it carries a thick 6mm profile and a semi-narrow band friction ring rather than the thinner, taller design found on standard street rotors. The added thickness puts extra thermal mass right at the friction zone, giving it the capacity to resist fade under extreme racing temperatures, while the narrowed friction ring matches the shorter pad contact profile used in high-end race calipers for 100% efficient pad-to-rotor contact with no dead weight. The result is a rock-solid lever feel, predictable and linear braking response under maximum pressure, and lighter, more agile steering feel from the reduced rotational inertia.

A pure race design optimized for its intended purpose, the AXIS™ RR remains very user-friendly on the street, making it an excellent choice for the high-performance enthusiast who prefers a round rotor over a contoured outer diameter. It is offered as a stablemate to the highly effective and successful Cobra™ SS, whose optimized petal design delivers round-rotor performance without the problems associated with wave-style rotors.
