BrakeTech AXIS™ SBK Stainless Steel

The BrakeTech AXIS™ SBK round race rotor is manufactured in a proprietary high-alloy stainless steel designed expressly for Pro Superbike teams. Its thicker 6.5mm profile strategically increases mass at the critical friction interface, substantially improving the rotor's ability to handle the high thermal loads of top-level racing while delivering greater consistency from the start of a race to the finish. As with the entire range of patented AXIS™ series full-floaters, the final operation prior to assembly includes cryogenic deep freezing to further stabilize the proprietary stainless blade.

The patented AXIS™ floating system is many times stronger than a conventional semi-floating brake rotor, with floater buttons that control radial and axial float only and are non-load bearing. All braking force is channeled through BrakeTech’s Direct-Link™ architecture, delivering over an 800% increase in surface area load transfer compared to a conventional brake rotor. This full-floating design reduces brake drag along with the thermal build-up, brake fade, and pad wear that come with it, while improving braking efficiency and pad life. The billet aluminum carrier straightens the load path from curved to linear for greater assembly strength, using U.S.-produced Alcoa or Kaiser aircraft-grade aluminum cut and CNC machined from bar rather than stamped, then hard anodized to Mil-Spec Type III process for maximum durability.

The AXIS™/SBK's round configuration is manufactured from an FIM / AMA – M/A rules-compliant race-spec stainless steel. With this upgraded material system, the Superbike series delivers the critical performance top-level competitors demand, making it the logical choice for a winning combination. Engineered for Pro Superbike racing, it is built for use with Billet GP-type and similar race calipers, and delivers consistent braking under extreme conditions on the track, whether for track days or competitive events.
